Into Ægir’s wide jaws
about time i uploaded this its been sitting finished for a while. hope you guys like it.
wip time. lesson learned in this pic. paint rigging after you have the clouds locked down or on a seperate layer other wise like in this case you will have to repaint them. its okay though i’ll do them even better next time. looking a little dark right now however i prefer getting the darks down then adding light personally i think i also want to open the pic up more to the art board left as well. give the ship a little more room to breath. feeling pretty stormy though which is good ^^
i had alot of fun with this study but decided to call it quits even though there are some unfinished areas. this is a bit too dark however i tend to find that i work the darks up first then add light more then the other way round. i changed the hair from the origanal ref as i needed to practice curly/wavey hair. i find it harder and i felt it was a good chance to practice it.
i think this ones my favourite of the studies i have done. i did do these studies for a reason. i have this image of a dancing bear (thats based on a painting by John Singer Sargent) that i wanted to improve the bear anatomy of and decided to do some studies to support that.
